Hanzo (i, Hanz?) is the former leader of Amegakure whose abilities are renowned and recognized by ninja everywhere. At some point in time he fought with Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade. When they proved able to survive his attacks he rewarded their skills by sparing their lives and giving them the title of the "Legendary Three Ninja" (h, Densetsu no Sannin?) to indicate that they were the strongest ninja in Konoha. Despite his immense power, Hanzo was very cautious when it came to his own security, and as such getting a chance to see him was a great feat. Sometime later, Hanzo, as well as his family, friends, and affiliates, were killed by Pain, allowing the latter to take control of Amegakure.[7]
